The Vatican

We all thought the Vatican was amazing. It is located in Rome, but apparently is considered to be it's own country. We got to see where the previous popes are buried, including Pope John Paul. It took some convincing, but we talked Jamie into going to the Vatican Museum. Included in the museum is the Sistine Chapel where Michelangelo's famous painting of Adam trying to reach out and touch God's hand is painted on the ceiling.

St. Peter's Basilica

To the right of the picture workers were busy tearing down a huge manger scene from Christmas.

Looking out towards St. Peter's Square.

There was actually a small mass going on at the time. The cathedral is so big and so beautifully decorated it blows your mind. Literally every inch of the entire building has some some of decoration.
